Madre called today and said the news came down that the factory is closing. It’s scheduled to close in February, but she said the workers could very well show up next week and the doors could be locked.

What a fucked up year this has been.

I find myself slack-jawed when watching bits of the Couric/Palin interview. I mean, I’m completely gobsmacked by her answers…it’s just painful.

But the real reason for posting today is to share a Sufi song I can’t get enough of. If you follow this link, you’ll find yourself at a site where you can download music by Ali Ekber Çiçek. The site includes samples of his music. The song I’ve been listening to is Yol Icinden, Yol Ararsan; it’s the second song listed. It’s only a one minute sample of the song, but it’s still lovely.

Woot!

I canvassed for Barack today! And I had fun! That could be because everyone we spoke with said they were voting for Barack too; it’s always easy to have fun when you’re talking to people who agree with you. I’m going again tomorrow. Perhaps it will be the day I get the door slammed in my face, but, hey, I used to be a professional photojournalist, so I’m used to dealing with people who aren’t interested in talking to me.
