I wish I could be more daring in my day to day interactions with strangers–more humorous, flirtatious, outgoing, cheerful, talkative, sympathetic. I wish I met more daring strangers. I wish to be that daring stranger. There’s too much silence between me and the strangers around me. It’s not that daring, really, to just open your mouth and talk. Yet it’s so easy and comfortable to be silent. But who knows what interesting character I’m passing, or what stories I could hear from someone new while sitting next to him/her in the coffee shop?

misusing my time
I’ve been a bit of a recluse lately, and not socializing as much as I’d like (though my presence is not much different than my absence in most social situations).
I try to spend the evenings immersed in reading and writing.
But then I get sidetracked looking for Samuel Beckett inspired videos on youtube.

Shock at polar bear’s carp kill (WTF?)

Critics say Berlin Zoo should not have put live fish inside Knut’s enclosure. But German media report that the carp were put there to eat up algae.

Controversy? Over a polar bear killing carp in his moat in front of
visitors (gasp!)?
What the hell? He’s a polar bear for god’s sake! That’s what they do.
